As most of you know, we welcomed Louis James Lawrence V into this world on January 23rd! Adjusting to having a baby in the house has been more of a challenge than we expected, so I'm a little late in updating the ole' blog. I had an elective induction because I was just so huge and uncomfortable and it was becoming obvious that he wasn't going to come on his own anytime soon. Since I was 40 weeks on the 22nd, my doctor saw no reason why we couldn't induce on the 23rd. My labor was exceptionally easy and I slept through most of it due to the magical work of one Dr. Prus and his magical epidural. Eight hours of shut eye later when it was time to push we had to wait because I didn't have control of my bottom half enough to push. They had to decrease my epidural by half! We had a small snafu when L5's shoulder became stuck in the birth canal and the doctor and nurses had to push on me to get him out. He was an uber healthy 9.24lb, 20.5 in baby. Yep! Little ole me had a giant, go figure. Since delivery he has lost some weight and looks "normal" now. We're still wondering whose features he has, which changes on a daily basis. Although, I think he looks like me when he's being an angel and Lou when he's acting like a little terror:)
The puppies love him and have taken over the position of nurse/protector. Anytime L5 cries they are johnny-on-the-spot to make sure he's alright. They have been a bit neglected and I feel really bad about that. I accidentally kicked Izzy off our bed last night, which could have seriously hurt her because she's so tiny and our bed is a good 4.5 feet off the ground. This of course happened after Charlie was attacked, again by a Lab, this week and Izzy scared out of her mind ran away from Lou. She was smart enough to run back home and sit at our gate, but Lou didn't realize it and thought we'd lost her for good. Both he and I we're hysterical. Both kids are fine, but the whole episode just makes us want a home with a yard even more so we can avoid problems like that. Which brings me to that status of the house...we've had a few showings but still no contract.
Lou and I need to take some pictures of the little monster and get them up here. He is so difficult to photograph because the second you pick up a camera he either puts a hand in his face or scrunches up his face, so most pictures don't really come out so well. But, I have to go...he decided to take a nap so that's my que to do the same.
